Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County Executive Director Madelyn Thorne, Assemblyman Phil Steck, Congressman Paul Tonko, Women’s Build a Bash Habitat Honoree Virginia Newton, Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy, and Congressman Angelo Santabarbara. Natasha Yates, Schenectady Day Nursery (SDN) Board President, congratulates Walter Supley who received SDN's Business Friend Award for his company's donated creative services to the day care center. The award took place at a fund raising event at Key Hall in Proctors Arcade. Over $25,000 was raised in support of SDN's food program. Day nursery children are served two hot meals and a nutritious snack every day.

Marge Amerling (left) presented Jane Golub (right) with a donation of 25 super-large picture books for  Schenectady Day Nursery at a recent open house and tour of the 25 Lafayette Street, Schenectady day care center. It is believed that SDN is the oldest day care center in the entire Capital Region. 

Amerling and Golub met while both were teaching elementary school in Niskayuna in the 1970s. They have continued in their strong advocacy for reading and early childhood education.
