World of Dance Munchkins

Delmar Lego Team at Marist

The Supersonic Squad of Delmar participated in the First Lego League (FLL) qualifying tournament at Marist College on Saturday, January 17, 2009. The Supersonic Squad, under John Wilkinson, placed third in the overall competition and qualified for the February 28, 2009 regional competition. There were 8 teams competing at Marist College for three spots at the regional competition. Supersonic Squad consists of Bethlehem Middle School sixth-graders (left to right): James Barnet, Danny Wilkinson, Joe Hamilton, Connor Braddock and Andreas Lietzau. The First Lego League competition includes scoring on: performance of the robot on specific tasks, discussion of the robot design, presentation of research on climate connections and teamwork. The Supersonic Squad won the research award based on their presentation on preventing damage to apple trees from frost.
